It is the mission of the Tuscarora Council, Boy Scouts of America to nurture youth through developing their moral responsibilities to God, country, and self, while developing physical strength and mental fortitude.
Description:
For more than 90 years, the Boy Scouts of America have worked with youth of all ages to promote morals, citizenship, the appreciation of nature and outdoor skills.Youths in first through fifth grade participate in the Cub Scout program. This program emphasizes basic social skills and family learning using the den method which organizes the boys to do grade specific activities. A large emphasis is placed on the family because of the importance to the child for approval, moral growth and positive role models that they find at home.
Boy Scouts is the core of our program with the patrol method, leadership skills, advanced outdoor skills, high moral standard and service to the community coming into focus.
History:
The Boy Scouts of America has been providing educational programs for boys and young adults in Wayne County for 80 years. For the past 30 years, Tuscarora Camp has provided a place for the boys to go and enjoy the great outdoors with camping,fishing,swimming and many other activities. Today the Wayne County Council serves Wayne,Johnson,Duplin,and Sampson counties with over 5300 boys enrolled. Wayne County alone has 2072 boys and young adults participating in the programs.
