The Wayne Uplift Family Resource Center Program partners with Wayne County families through a strength-based approach to family support services that is culturally and socially relevant to the program participants. The program is built upon the philosophy that all families have strengths that can become the foundation for self-empowerment, positive growth, and change within their families and communities.

Description:
Wayne Uplift assists families in establishing and utilizing both formal and informal community support systems to help them meet their needs, including enhancing their parenting skills and self-sufficiency to ensure that their children live and grow in sage, nurturing homes. The Family Resource Center programs include: Youth Development Program (for 6-8 graders), Parent Skill Training, Parents Anonymous(R), ABE?GED Classes, Community Computer Lab and Internet Access and various outreach and prevention services.

History:
Wayne Uplift Resource Assoc., Inc. has successfully operated family resource centers in Wayne County since 1991. In 2000, it became the fiscal agent for Wayne County's Families For Kids II initiative project, the Southern Wayne Family Center. On July 1. 2003, the Southern Wayne Family Center was officially adopted into the Wayne Uplift family.
