Last updated on April 21, 2008 The "REST" (Readiness Emergency Sleeping Tool) program was designed to help ease the anxiety of separation experienced by military members and their loved ones while the military member is away from home on a temporary assignment. The temporary assignments can last any where from 30 days to well over one year. Each pillowcase is personalized with a picture of the military member, the family members, or even a beloved pet and a special message. The pillowcase serves as a tangible reminder of the love that military member and their family has for each other until they are reunited. An infant t-shirt is available for children 12 and under to put on a stuffed animal. The military member has the choice of one free pillowcase or one free infant t-shirt. All pillowcases, infant t-shirts, printer ink, and iron-on transfer paper are provided through donations. Even the labor to create the finished product is provided by volunteers in the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Pillowcases need to be cotton, white, and standard size. The infant t-shirts should be 0-3 months or 3-6 month size. The printer used to create the iron-on transfer is a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 970Cxi. The iron-on transfer paper currently being used is Hanes T-ShirtMaker Easy-Peel Iron-On Transfer Paper.
