Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to improve the lives of young people and enable them to become productive responsible adults by creating one-to one mentoring relationships between at-risk children and qualified adult mentor volunteers.

Nutmeg helps kids be all they can be via 3 programs: Our Community-based program, our School/Site-based program, and our Foster Grandparent program. Big Brothers Big Sisters statistics show that 71% of children studied improved their academic performances 85% stayed free of alcohol or drugs, 85% stayed free of gangs. Of the parents studied, 69% reported improved family relations, 83% reported improved self-esteem.
History:
In Connecticut, Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters was founded in 1966. The organization's central office is in Hartford. There are branch offices in Middletown, Waterbury and Tolland.The organization's service areas include: Hartford, Tolland, Windham, Middlesex, Litchfield and upper New Haven counties. There are 169 towns and cities in the state of Connecticut. and Nutmeg is serving over 2,000 kids in 111 of them. Among the 500 Big Brothers Big Sisters affilliates nationwide, Nutmeg ranks among the top 10%.

Stay in the left hand lane through the next set of lights and take a left into Scott Plaza (Ebenezer Scott's Restaurant on the end). Office is next to Top Notch Cleaners Unit 4A. From 84E: Take 84E to exit 25- Harpers Ferry Road. Follow Harper's Ferry Road straight past BJ's Wholesale to lights. At lights take right onto Scott Road and take 2nd left into Scott Plaza (Ebenezer Scott's Restaurant on the end). Office is next to Top Notch Cleaners Unit 4A. |
