the mission of our agency is to promote the legacy of harriet beecher stowe and to care for her buildings and grounds at nook farm. the nook farm grounds can be seen on HGTV, CPTV ( nationally syndicated connecticut public television program on historic gardens), also in many national publications such as 'horticulture', 'house and garden', 'house beautiful', 'the new york times', 'bloomberg garden news' , 'country living', numerous 'hartford courant' articles, etc

Description:
GARDEN HELPERS learn about historic gardens,environmental gardening, horticulture, color theme gardens, meadow gardening, and how to keep your own gardens healthy with garden guru rob camp fuoco. stowe center is a beautiful exciting national site . (the stowe-day foundation is a trust set up by katherine day to preserve the houses and buildings at the site and to disseminate information about mrs. stowe and the beecher family). while working on this beautiful site in hartford you will meet visitors from all over the country and the world who visit our site each day!!!

History:
the stowe center was founded in the 1960's by katherine day. the historic grounds were designed by the partnership of fuoco, stevenson, canning . robert fuoco did the in 1978 and 1990 redesigns of the historic site which brought national attention to the site these historic grounds have been a testing site for new thinking in the design and development of historic landscapes. they are also a site for new thinking in environmental gardening. volunteer here and learn about some of the new and exciting things going on at the stowe center .
