Eagle Mount provides opportunities in recreation to enhance the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
Description:
Eagle Mount provides opportunities to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. The programs of Eagle Mount include: downhill and cross country skiing, golf, bicycling, swimming, youth Day Camps, arts & crafts, and the LIFE Academy for young developmentally adults transitioning from high school to job training programs. All adaptive equipment is provided along with specially trained staff and volunteers to assist the participants. People we serve with disabilities include autism, downs syndrome, developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, spina bifada, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, paraplegia, quadriplegia, visual impairments, and brain trauma just to name a few. We rely on community support through special events, annual campaign, individual and corporate donations and grants. Eagle Mount is proud to be a United Way partner agency.
History:
In 1983, retired General Robert Mathis and his wife Greta started an adaptive ski program in Bozeman, Montana. People with disabilities from Billings and all over the state went to Bozeman to enjoy the freedom of skiing. Eagle Mount expanded to Billings in 1989, serving 49 individuals that first year. More than 500 children and adults now take part in our year round programs. Eagle Mount's programs and events are made possible by strong leadership from our Board of Directors and tireless commitment by literally hundreds of community volunteers.
