The St Vincent Healthcare Foster Grandparent Program provides opportunities for seniors to serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers to children with special and exceptional needs.
Description:
St Vincent Healthcare Foster Grandparent Program is a federal funded program sponsored by St Vincent Healthcare to provide seniors on limited income, 60 or older in good health placement with children that have special and exceptional needs. Grandparents serve in Head Start Centers, schools, child care centers, and other community based sites. Rewards of the program include hourly stipend, transportation, recognition, and the rewards of serving and being with children.
History:
The Foster Grandparent Progam has been a part of the National Senior Corps since 1965. The program has provided valuable aid to children and youth. St Vincent Healthcare has sponsored the program since 1971. The Foster Grandparents currently serve in schools, Head Start, Early Head Start, day care centers, and after school programs.

The Foster Grandparent Program is located on the St. Vincent Healthcare campus at 90 Poly Drive. Our building is on the corner of 27th Street and Poly Drive, with the entrance located in the back of the building.
