The Junior League of Billings is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Description:
The Junior League is dedicated to improving the lives of area youth and their family support systems. Guided by this vision, the Junior League's community council coordinates our efforts in this area. We have initiated many projects in our community over the past 53 years that are still in existence today. A few of those are the Community Day Care and Enrichment Center, Tumbleweed Runaway Program, Youth Court Conference Committee, and Venture into Schools.
History:
The Junior Service League was founded in March 1954 and became a part of The Association of Junior Leagues International in 1965. Our two fundraisers are MarketPlace Magic and A Toast to Billings. Our thrift shop, Wise Penny, has been a project of the Junior League since 1954 providing affordable clothing to the community. The Wise Penny donated over $42,000 in clothing to other nonprofits last year and provided a place for court clients to complete 525 hours of community service. We also have a voucher program that allows agencies to refer clients to us who are in need of clothing.
