The Billings Symphony Society's mission is to provide quality symphonic music for the residents of the Yellowstone Region. The best known activity of the Billings Symphony is the annual Symphony in the Park where more than 200 people volunteer and more than 10,000 residents attend.
Description:
The Billings Symphony Society encompasses the Billings Symphony Orchestra and Billings Symphony Chorale. The BSO is a semi-professional orchestra which performs six annual concerts plus offers special events such as two holiday performances of "The Nutcracker" and annual New Year's Eve entertainment. The Chorale is a volunteer organization offering local vocalists the opportunity to perform repertoire with orchestra. Central to the Billings Symphony Society's role in the community is offering outreach performances to children, rural, and senior populations.
History:
The Billings Symphony Society was founded in 1952 as a community orchestra and has evolved into the region's finest semi-professional orchestra capable of performing the most challenging orchestral repertoire.
