RiverStone Health Hospice Services provides comfort oriented care, focusing on quality of life, pain relief, relationships, and values. Together with patient and family, hospice professionals and volunteers help relieve pain and symptoms; decrease psychological, social, emotional, or spiritual distress; and support caregivers.

The contributions our volunteers make are immeasurable. Volunteers provide support, respite and companionship to patients and families in a variety of ways determined by patient/family needs; and interests, skills and availability of volunteer.

History:
Founded in 1981, RiverStone Health Hospice Services (formerly known as Big Sky Hospice) was started by a volunteer effort of community agencies, including both hospitals,Yellowstone City County Health Department, and the MSU College of Nursing. The agency was Medicare certified in 1988, and accredited by the Community Health Accreditation in 1999. The agency is self-supporting from clinical services revenues and memorials and donations. It is not tax-supported. Donations are tax-deductible. An endowment through the Yellowstone Health Partnership, a 501c3 organization helps to support RiverStone Health Hospice Services and the Horizon Hospice Home, a 7 bed facility in the Heights which opened in June 2001.
