The Lafayette Community Center - A Great Place To Be.The Lafayette Community Center is nestled in beautiful Burton Valley across the creek from the City of Lafayette's 68 acre Lafayette Community Park.
The Center is entirely landscaped with California native plants. The plants show people how beautiful and care-free natives can be in public and residential landscapes.

Description:
The Lafayette Community Center Foundation is made up of volunteers who raise funds for the buildings and grounds at the Center. The Center houses a wide variety of programs and special facilities like the Multi-Sport Rink; The Kindergym; The Senior Services Center; The City Council Chambers; The Tot Playground; The Bridge to the Lafayette Community Park; and hundreds of classes and workshops covering great subjects like yoga, cooking, art, dance, technology, health, music, and science. Foundation members are grateful to volunteers who can help keep the grounds, especially the native landscaping, looking their best.

History:
The Lafayette Community Center Foundation was established in 1985 when the City of Lafayette purchased an old elementary school that the school district had closed down. The City has wanted to create a community center since it incorporated in 1968 but was unable to obtain a site until the old Burton School was declared surplus by the district. The 20 classrooms and surrounding landscape underwent an amazing transformation and now it is a beloved and popular community center.
