The OreMi Mentoring Program creates and supports one-on-one mentoring relationships between community members and children of incarcerated parents. Together we develop the potential of each child and break the intergenerational cycle of incarceration. We work with children ages 4-14 in Alameda and Contra Costa County.

Description:
We are looking for new mentors, especially male mentors, who want to change the life a child in their community!

Mentor Qualifications:

-Be at least 18 years old

-Be willing to make at least a one hour commitment per week for at least one year.

-Lived in the Bay Area for a minimum of 6 months and plan to remain for a minimum of one year.

-Criminal Record, DMV and Child Abuse Clearance.

-ALL POTENTIAL MENTORS ARE REQUIRED TO GO THROUGH A SCREENING AND APPLICATION PROCESS, AND WILL BE GIVEN COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING, ALONG WITH ONGOING SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION FOR THEIR EFFORTS.

Being a mentor is a wonderfully rewarding way to help a deserving child reach their potential. If this sounds like the volunteer opportunity you've been waiting for, or if you have any questions about the OreMi Mentoring Program, please feel free to contact Amanda Wake or visit us on the web at www.fssba-oak.org. The Mentor Application is on our web-site.

History:
The OreMi mentoring program is proud to be going into it's 3rd year of making powerful mentor matches. Family Support Services of the Bay Area has supported children, youth, families and communities in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties for over 16 years.
