Mama's House Community Outreach

| Last updated on September 19, 2007 |
To develop youth for adulthood, and to prepare adults to live successfully: emotionally, socially, physically and economically in the community.
Description:
We are a faith-based group of concerned citizens who want to make a difference in our communities. Some of us are parents, others are educators, etc. Some of us have professional credentials and experience, others have desire and experience working with youth and adults. We currently partner with one middle school's after school program; and have had our own after school program. We offer parenting classes. We have future goals of having a transition house for women and children from which we would be able to teach our university approved curriculums. Some of our training is just plain, old-fashioned home training which is much needed today. We work in teams, and try to nurture the youth into compliance. We are a benefit to families and the community.
History:
We began as a grassroots group from an apartment complex. We later evolved into a nonprofit, after applying for necessary paperwork. We used seed money from a foundation to help us provide an after school program to our community center one day a week; and an additional day at a middle school. We need to move from this early stage to become a solid, growing nonprofit, better equipped and able to serve our community, etc.
