Our mission is to illuminate the history of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, while serving the diverse and changing cultures of today's Fruitvale community and engaging them in the stewardship of this nationally significant site.
Description:
Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park offers an environment for the enjoyment of the community, where neighbors can be actively involved in its historical and natural features. We develop and maintain the site as an interpretive park, gather community stories, offer arts and educational activities for youth, and create exhibits for visitors to enjoy, learn from, and shape with their own contributions.
History:
Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park has worked since the late 1970s to establish the six-acre park, which opened to the public in 1996. With completion of the house restoration in 2001, Peralta Hacienda Historical Park entered a new phase of development that focuses on landscape development, creating exhibits for the Peralta House and interpretive programs for the whole site.
