The mission of Holy Names University Upward Bound is to engender in its participants the skills, motivation, and vision necessary to complete a program of secondary education and to graduate from a post-secondary institution.
Description:
With the help of a dedicated staff, our program provides after school tutoring in all of the college prep A-G courses, SAT prep at our Saturday academy, college tours around the country, summer residential and summer school at Holy Names University, and college advising throughout the year.
History:
The Holy Names University Upward Bound Project is an academic outreach program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. We serve 60 youth between ninth and twelfth grades. All of our students attend Oakland High School. Students accepted into the program receive project services free of charge. In return, students have to make a commitment to both their academic education and to the Upward Bound Project. Over the past ten years, we have successfully matriculated over 95% of our graduating seniors into colleges or universities of their choice.
