Rancho Raccoon's mission is to:
Provide excellent foster care for orphaned and injured raccoons until they're ready for release to the wild,
Educate children and adults about local wildlife and their fascinating secret lives, with the goal of improving our stewardship of the earth we share, and
Promote wildlife-safe solutions to human/wildlife conflicts
Description:
Rancho Raccoon is the Raccoon Team of Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue, which serves Oakland, Berkeley, Montclair, Piedmont and Alameda. We provide excellent foster care for orphaned and injured raccoons, and when they're ready they are released to live their natural wild lives.
We offer educational programs for adults and children on living peacefully with local wildlife. Part of our service is providing information and help with common human/wildlife conflicts, all without harming the animals.
History:
Rancho Raccoon began in 2007. In our first year, we recruited and trained 10 volunteers, collected donations of cash, goods and services to provide housing, food, veterinary care and transportation for the animals. We produced and presented the first in our series of Living Gently with Wildlife slide shows, and we created our website, www.ranchoraccoon.org. Please see our website for 2008 projects.
