Established in 1985, CAL-PEP's overall mission is to decrease the incidence of HIV/AIDS, STD and other communicable diseases among disenfranchised communities in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.
Description:
As the largest HIV/AIDS outreach agency located in Alameda County, CAL-PEP performs prevention and education activities in streets and alleyways, in single residence occupancy hotels, homeless shelters, crack houses, drug recovery homes, in the mobile clinic and at partner and collaborating agencies throughout the Bay Area. Outreach activities include: one-one health education, Safer Sex Workshops (including condom demonstrations, distribution and negotiation training), educational presentations, distribution of sex education supplies as needed, and referrals to recovery and detox programs, prenatal care, HIV/STD testing and other health care services.
