AdvanceCamp, Inc. is a true 501 (c) 3 charitable institution, run by registered volunteer Scouters who serve without compensation. 100% of all your donations go towards the program express with the youth.
History:
Scouters from the Delta District of Mt Diablo Silverado Council founded AdvanceCamp in 1999. It was the brainchild of Sharon Gifford and Steve Hoagland to help scouts complete work began at other scout events, which were not completed. As the planning for the first AdvanceCamp began it was thought that the event should be made more accessible to the scouts including those who wanted to start new Merit Badges or those still working on Trail to First Class rank advancement. AdvanceCamp by its very name is about working with Scouts to provide advancement opportunities. The camp is different than any other offered in the greater San Francisco Bay Area for a scout, that explains its growth each year as more units and scouts discover this event, and the opportunity to complete partials before the end of the year. Scouts completing advancement assures the Scouting movement will continue to grow as young men discover or rediscover the FUN scouting was to offer them. During AdvanceCamp the scouts can work on trailhead to first class or merit badges on the trail to Eagle. Fun is the order of the day. Safe haven is not only a Scouting requirement but at AdvanceCamp it is the only way to stay in camp. Scouts will honor each other, the program, the adult leaders and the event so everyone can enjoy the outdoor environment AdvanceCamp has to offer.
