Family Paths promotes the development of nurturing, responsible and resilient families within our diverse communities, providing comprehensive services that foster positive change to empower parents and children.

Description:
Family Paths believes that there are many paths to creating strong and healthy families, and are committed to helping parents, caregivers and their children. With offices in Oakland, Hayward and Fremont as well as in home based services and programs offered at a variety of sites throughout Alameda County, we strive to make our services available to all Alameda County residents. Our 24-hour Support and Resource Hotline provides crisis intervention and over-the-phone counseling, refers callers to our programs and services, and links clients to other community resources. Other services include positive parenting classes, office based therapy for children, parents and families, mental health consultation for early childhood educators, support for parents trying to navigate the CalWORKs system, counseling and case management for youth and young adults and their families who need assistance in stabilizing their lives, and emergency respite childcare.

History:
Family Paths was founded in 1972 by a single mom trying to deal with the stressors of working and going to school while raising a child. At the time she could not find anywhere to call for help and support, so she worked on starting the Hotline for stressed parents. For more than 36 years, Family Paths has grown with many needed services and been at the forefront of providing family support services in Alameda County.
