An interfaith, educational and service organization whose purpose is to offer encouragement and support to those who seek the direct personal experience of the sacred within.

Description:
Awakening is a community of individuals who see every aspect of living and dying as an opportunity to deepen their compassion and self-understanding. Situations that involve a life-threatening diagnosis, coping with the effects of a serious accident or illness, or grieving the death of a loved one, provide a special forum for exploring the range and essence of one's spiritual nature. Awakening offers encouragement and direction to those who wish to use these painful times as opportunities for bringing awareness to the sacred within. In this way, Awakening complements the physical and emotional support offered by hospice and patient-care programs.
Our services include:
Awakening Retreat Center
A center designed to provide a supportive environment for individuals and groups exploring ways to integrate their work in the world with their spiritual lives. Personal retreats and space for conferences are available.

Volunteer Support for the Dying
Volunteers are available to provide emotional and spiritual support for those facing a life-threatening illness as well as their families and friends. If you would like a volunteer to be with you, or someone you know, in this process, please contact us.

Awareness Groups for Grieving and Dying
Regular support groups and personal consultation are available for those involved in the process of grieving or dying.

Awakening Counseling Center
The Center provides transpersonal/spiritual counseling for individuals, couples, and families. Internships are available for those who also provide volunteer time with the dying.

An Integrated Therapy Program for Transforming Stress and Pain
Guidance is offered for treating chronic pain and stress-related disorders. In addition, Awakening offers a two-day workshop on An Integrated Therapy Program for Transforming Stress and Pain.

Meditation/Contemplative Prayer
Several ongoing groups are available for those who wish to learn and practice stillness. Beginning and long-time practitioners are welcome.

Educational and Training Workshops
Workshops on "Living, Dying, and Grieving" as well as other selected topics are offered on a regular basis at prescheduled times and places, or on-site at your organization's location. Awakening is an approved provider of Continuing Education courses for MFTs, LCSWs, RNs, and LVNs. These courses are designed for non-professionals as well.

Deepening Spiritual Awareness
Opportunities to enhance one's sacred experience include individual spiritual counseling, spiritual growth groups, classes, and presentations.
