Hopalong Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of cats and dogs through rescue, spay/neuter and education programs.

Hopalong could not reach our goal of rescuing 1000 animals a year without our amazing volunteers. We currently have more than 475 volunteers making sure that our furry companions reach their forever homes.

Description:
The animals taken into Hopalong’s program are fostered in a home environment, spayed or neutered and vaccinated. The animals are evaluated for temperament and many receive basic training in order to make them better life partners for the people that will ultimately take them home.

Hopalong applies a multifaceted approach to finding permanent, stable and loving homes for animals. Dogs and cats are featured on Hopalong’s website, accompanied by information on the size, temperament and needs of each pet. People seeking a companion animal may also find a pet through Hopalong’s’ In-store Cat Adoption program and their community-based Mobile Adoptions held each weekend. Hopalong prides itself in being accessible and responsive to the community. As part of this, we have staff and volunteers available to assist new pet owners with behavioral advice and post adoption support.

We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including fostering cats, dogs, and kittens, administrative/office support, and adoption/weekend event volunteers. See our website at www.hopalong.org for more information.

History:
Hopalong was founded in 1993 as an all-volunteer organization. Since then, Hopalong Animal Rescue has grown from a one woman effort to include a large number of dedicated volunteers and donors who make it possible for us to come closer to our dream of ensuring that no adoptable animal is euthanized in our community.
