Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa serves elder and dependent adults living in licensed long term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living and board and care homes) throughout the county. Our staff and volunteers work hard to keep seniors safe.
Description:
Our non profit agency depends on skilled volunteers to help us serve the more than 8,000 residents of long term care facilities in our county. We work hard to make sure that residents are well treated in the facilities. Our staff and volunteers identify, investigate and rectify claims of abuse and neglect of residents in these facilities. We provide a voice for these residents. We work hard on behalf of residents who cannot speak on behalf of themselves. Advocacy is a big part of the job.
History:
Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa has been serving residents of long term care facilities throughout Contra Costa County since 1977. It began operating under the auspices of the Mt. Diablo Rehabilitation Center. After 14 years of service, the agency became an independent 501(c)(3)organization.
