The mission of the Volunteer Center is to harness the power of volunteerism in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties and assist volunteers in building a lifelong commitment to community service. In fulfillment of its mission, the Center focuses attention in four key areas: 1) educating community members about the breadth and diversity of volunteer opportunities; 2) providing volunteer management training and other resources to agencies, individuals and corporations; 3) recognizing volunteer service; and 4) strategically collaborating with organizations to address community needs.

Description:
Our programs include;

  • Community Volunteer Services
We support the volunteer recruiting efforts of more than 500 nonprofit organizations in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. Last year, we provided information and referrals to over 36,000 people.

  • Disaster Response
We collaborate with Volunteer Centers throughout the Bay Area to provide services in the case of disaster and as a Disaster Preparedness network partner, we recruit and refer emergent volunteers for our community and the Bay Area.

  • Youth Program
The Youth Volunteerism Program is an effort centered on recruiting, referring and supporting students interested in volunteering. Our Youth Action Council is a group of over 300 high school students who plan, organize and participate in volunteer projects.

  • Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
We are delighted to be the new sponsor of RSVP in Contra Costa County. RSVP is a national service program that provides adults 55 and older the opportunity to apply their life experience to meeting community needs.
