Last updated on August 21, 2008

Building Future's mission is to build communities with underserved women and children where they are safely and supportively housed, free from homelessness and family violence.

Description:
We operate three emergency shelters and 52 units of supportive housing in Alameda County. Over 675 women and children are housed and provided services each year through our programs.

Our shelters offer comprehensive support services, transportation, and job seeking assistance. These programs and services are designed to help women rebuild their lives and become independent and capable of caring for themselves and their children.

History:
Founded in San Leandro in 1986, the seed of what was to become Building Futures with Women and Children was planted when a small coalition of church and civic groups opened a temporary winter relief shelter. Since then, we have evolved into Alameda County's second-largest provided of shelter and services to homeless women and their children.
