We operate a voluntary Science Fun Fair at 16 elementary schools in Dublin and Pleasanton every year. As part of this program we invite individuals to come to the schools to interview students about their science project. No science background is required just an interest in the event and children. This is a morning only event on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 from 8:30 - 12:00 pm followed by a complimentary lunch.
Description:
This event is coordinated by volunteers at all the elementary schools in Dublin and Pleasanton. This is a noncompetitive event. All students receive a badge and a certificate with their picture on it for participating. After the interviewing is complete (interviewing is the part I need 300 volunteers for) the 3,500 projects are moved to the Alameda County Fairgrounds where the projects are displayed with 50 corporate booths all showing how they use science everyday. This is a free event and all interviewers and their families are invited to attend. We expect 13,000 people to attend this event.
History:
This event has been happening for 11 years and has been growing every year. The goal is to get kids excited about science and to show them that science is all around us.
