Opera Piccola provides multiple opportunities for people of all ages and cultural backgrounds to participate in the creativity of the arts.
Description:
Opera Piccola is dedicated to bringing the arts to underserved and low income audiences. We provide low cost or free community performances and arts education programs to children, youth and adults throughout the greater Bay Area. In our community performance program, we bring portable scenery, costumes, lights and music to enhance a short play for multigenerational audiences. Seeing the play together brings diverse individuals into closer community as they laugh and respond to stories with universal human themes. In our education programs, children and youth express their deepest ideas and feelings through creating their own art, gaining self esteem, literacy, team work and cognitive skills in the process.
History:
Opera Piccola has provided its education and arts programs since 1989. It is now an established mid-size non-profit agency that has received national recognition for its innovative new works and its education program focusing on literacy and youth development through the arts.
