To restore and maintain the farmhouse, barn and grounds at Rodgers Ranch as a living history museum while education residents of Contra Costa County through classes and activities
Description:
Friends of Rodgers Ranch is dedicated to raising money for the restoration of an 1867 farmhouse and barn. We are currently working on completing restoration of the house which can be used for small meetings or functions. It is also used for children's heritage programs and school field trips. The barn has been dismantled and the wood saved until funds are available to rebuild the barn. It can then be used as a museum and for workshops. We are looking for volunteers who have an interest in preserving historical sites, enjoy working on old houses and/or working with children.
History:
Friends of Rodgers Ranch is co-sponsored by the PH Rec. and Park District and was formed in 1991 to raise money to restore the Patrick Rodgers house and barn located at 315 Cortsen Rd. So far, we have put a foundation and new roof on the house, built a new front porch and installed a handicapped restroom and utilities. The 2.1 acres is owned by the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park district.
