The mission of Bonita House, Inc. is: "Building community, dignity and hope with people recovering from psychiatric and substance use disorders."

Description:
Bonita House, Inc.(BHI)provides residential treatment,housing with supportive services, outpatient treatment, and socialization services to adults who are dually diagnosed with both psychiatric and substance use disabilities. BHI has been recognized by the Federal Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as a leading provider of dual diagnosis treatment services in the nation. It was also chosen by The National Institutes of Health, Center for Mental Health Services/Center for Substance Abuse Treatment to produce a manual of its services, which is now used throughout the nation by programs developing treatment programs for adults with a dual diagnosis of psychiatric and substance use disabilities.

BHI offers services to adults who are dually diagnosed through the following programs:
>The Dual Diagnosis Residential Treatment Program (RTP): The RTP is a residential treatment program available to adults with a major psychiatric disorder and a history of substance use;
>The Supported Independent Living Program (SIL): offers rehabilitative services and support to dually diagnosed adults through case management services, clean and sober transitional housing, and clean and sober permanent housing;
>The Creative Living Center (CLC):a day program offering socialization, rehabilitative, and counseling services to support clients" abilities to maintain themselves in the community;and,
>The Homeless Outreach and Stabalization Team (HOST): provides outreach to adults in Northern Alameda County who are homeless and have a psychiatric disability HOST staff will arrange housing for 90 formerly homeless adults. Once housed, HOST staff
will provide the necessary supportive services to enrolled program participants so that they remain housed. Supportive services include; health care, medications if needed, vocational and educational opportunities.

History:
Bonita House, Inc., founded in 1971, is a tax-exempt public benefit health and human service organization. Services we provide assist adults to live in stabilized housing, reduce psychiatric hospitalizations, and drug dependency. Residential and outpatient services are provided at several sites throughout Alameda County.
