The Village Community Resource Center is a non-profit community driven program that offers a variety of supportive services and activities for children and their families, in a safe and nurturing environment. Our mission is to provide information, support and coordination of resources to empower and improve the quality of life of disadvantaged children and their families in a culturally sensitive environment.
Description:
The Center provides access to community resources and events to families who have been traditionally disenfranchised or under-serviced from the rest of our community. Services are prevention and intervention focused, family friendly and available in English/Spanish and are available to all community residents.
History:
Village Community Resource Center primarily serves Latino families (but does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender, national origin ethnicity, residential status, veteran states, sexual orientation or disability) in Far East Contra Costa County who are isolated by culture, language, geography, and class. The families we serve have multiple risk factors such as poverty, single parent head-of-household (Spanish speaking only), farm workers, unemployed, seasonally employed, receiving public assistance, lacking health insurance. When these vulnerable families are clustered together in isolated groups, they become disconnected from the opportunities, resources, and networks that parents and caregivers need to offer their children the best possible opportunity for success in life.
