Description:
The Emery Ed Fund supports a new vision for public education in Emeryville. Through partnership with the local businesses, industry and community leaders, city and state and government officials and district personnel, the Emery Ed Fund is helping Emery become one of the most dynamic and thriving communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. This innovative partnership boasts the following results: The most improved district in demonstrated results of academic achievement tests; The development of small learning communities focused on individual students and every student's success; A progressive math science and technology program including instruction and curriculum, field trips, summer programs and class projects; Enrichment and extra-curricular programs in arts, including music, dance, performing arts, photography, and community programs such as community gardens; Partnerships with Pixar, Chiron/Novartis, Bay Street, Semifreddi's, Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, and the Emery Chamber; Increased scholarships, teacher grants, program funding and school volunteers through the auspices of the Emery Ed Fund. All of these activities lay the groundwork for the overall vision of building a model Center for Community Life.
History:
Founded by a group of community leaders, the Emery Ed Fund was a volunteer driven organization from 1996 until 2003. Since then, it has grown in programs and fundraising. With the significant results achieved (see description above) the Fund is poised to facilitate a greater impact and take on larger and more exciting goals for the community.
