Project Pride is committed to serving women and children, providing state-of-the-art residential substance abuse treatment to the often disenfranchised community women, including those with co-occurring disorders.
Description:
Project Pride is approximately 10 years old; we have always served women and children and now have 49 adult beds. Every woman living at Project Pride is either pregnant or has one or two children, ages 0 - 8. We have an on-site daycare center; the developmental, mental health, physical needs of the children are addressed. We believe in the family treatment approach, knowing that recovery is a process for the entire family. We have a contract with the State Department of Corrections for 23 of our beds, where non-violent offenders come to serve their sentence, while living with her child. We have a transitional phase to our treatment program; women continue to live with us while going to school or obtaining job training, to better enable the family's re-entry into the community.
History:
East Bay Community Recovery Project, our parent organization, began serving the community on an outpatient basis over 15 years ago. The outpatient program has grown to now include day treatment, a Hayward site; free and anonymous HIV testing throughout Alameda County; client AIDS and substance abuse education. Project Pride, the residential division, began approximately 10 years ago.
