To provide at least one well-balanced meal daily to homebound seniors in our West Contra Costa County community (Pinole, El Sobrante, Crockett, Rodeo, Hercules, Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, Kensington). No senior in our community will go hungry due to an inability to get to the store, prepare meals, or have limited financial resources.
Description:
Our volunteers usually drive one day a week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Mon.-Fri.) and deliver anywhere from 12 to 20 meals within a designated driving area (no more than 20 miles). Volunteers need to have their own insured vehicle, but we can provide a small mileage reimbursement if that helps. You'll only have a few minutes to spend with each client, but you'd be surprised how quickly you'll bond with some of these folks. So if you have a ready smile and are patient with our slowing clients, please give us a call. We're flexible and will willingly work around your schedule, for without volunteers we wouldn't be in existence.
History:
We've been providing meals for over 30 years now and have grown from 8 meals a day with one route to over 400 meals a day on 17 routes. We've had volunteers that have been with our agency for 20+ years now and would love to add your name to the group.
