We are a group of concerned individuals who want to promote clean and functional creeks for the enjoyment of all. Our goal is to help our creeks serve as wildlife habitat for our native species. We also want to educate the public on the benefits of creeks as a functional part of our ecosystem.
Description:
Our group made up of volunteers working toward the goals that we set. We officially meet every other month to discuss our present and future project. We usually have a guest speaker at our meeting who talks to us about a relevant topic. We are also involved in the education of both private and public individuals, including City Staff and elected officials, about the need to protect our creeks. Our outreach may be initiated by our group or by a request to our group by a resident in the area.
History:
Friends of Pleasant Hill Creeks was established in 2005 by a city staff of Pleasant Hill. We work under the guidance of Land for Urban Wildlife, Inc., a non-profit organization that promotes the preservation of habitat for urban wildlife and to the education of people on the benefits of wildlife and natural areas for the urban culture. Land for Urban Wildlife also collects donations for us and provides funding for our projects, as needed.
