The heart of Berkeley theatre since 1957! Our volunteer actors, designers, builders, and production assistants create a magnificent theatrical experience every night, both for the volunteers and the audience.
Description:
Our mission is to enrich, entertain and improve our community through fascinating theatrical works. With social consciousness and an ensemble approach, we provide area residents with opportunities to attend, participate and grow through theatre. Our shows will be affordable, our opportunities enjoyable and our community impact felt year-round.
History:
Actors Ensemble is the oldest theater organization in the City of Berkeley. This year we are celebrating our 50th year of operation. In addition to producing 4 - 5 shows a year, we also manage the Live Oak Park Theatre for the City of Berkeley, which is a modern 120-seat indoor theater, attached to the Live Oak Park Recreation Center in North Berkeley. Most of our productions occur in the Live Oak Park Theatre, but oftentimes in the summer we will put on productions outdoors in local parks. All of our productions are put on through the efforts of volunteers, who provide the actors, the designers, the builders, the publicity, the behind-the-scenes production, and all the other things necessary to put on a first rate show. Every show we learn a lot, meet new, talented people, and create from scratch a magnificent artistic experience each night. Come join us.
