The Women's Daytime Drop-In Center (WDDC) is a non-profit program addressing the needs of homeless women and children to ensure that they have a safe daytime refuge where they receive support, nourishing meals, and access to community resources to overcome homelessness and regain self sufficiency.

Description:
WDDC has evolved from its original mission of providing emergency and crisis response to a program of on-going support services. WDDC serves an average of 150 women and children each month in a nurturing, home like environment. Services are available at no fee to any homeless woman or child.

These services include:
 A nourishing breakfast and lunch prepared by clients and volunteers
 Transportation to medical, employment, housing, and social service appointments.
 Information and referral
 Parenting workshops
 Advocacy
 Housing referral and placement
 Case Management
 A specialized children's program.
 Bridget Transitional House
 Mental health groups/Liaison with Berkeley Mental Health
 HIV education and prevention
 Chemical dependency groups and counseling.

The work at the Center is made possible by the efforts of 40 dedicated volunteers representing a diverse cross section of our community. Interns from U.C. Berkeley and other schools assist staff with special projects.

History:
Located in West Berkeley, WDDC is the first daytime program for women and children in Berkeley.

Established in 1988 as a volunteer cooperative, WDDC's staff continue to be mostly community volunteers providing services five days a week.
