Regional Center of the East Bay supports persons with developmental disabilities and their families with the tools needed to achieve lives of quality and satisfaction, and builds partnerships that result in inclusive communities.

Description:
Regional Center of the East Bay is under the Department of Developmental Services for the State of California. There are 21 state wide agencies and they serve all clients with Developmental Disabilities that are diagnosed prior to age 18. When a client is referred to our agency, the individual goes through an assessment process to determine eligibility. Information is gathered through medical history and eligibility is determined. Once a client is determined eligible, the client is assigned a case manager and the ID team is developed. The Case Manager meets with the individual and or family to determine the needs, resources and supports needed in order to live the least restrictive life possible and in order to continue to grow and progress. There are a variety of other resources available such as clinical consultation, equipment needs, advocacy in the schools, respite etc. RCEB will explore all generic options available to the clients and it is the ID teams responsibility to explore these options before accessing Regional Center services.

History:
Regional Center of the East Bay is a State Funded program under the Direction of the Department of Developmental Disabilities. Prior to 1976 RCEB was composed of a number of delegate agencies that came together and created Regional Center system through out California with the first one being started in Southern California.
