Position title: Board Member for Friends of Sausal Creek
Description: Board Member “Job Description”

These bullets are meant to help explain the work members of our Board of Directors take on and areas of Board commitment. Please contact Sara Marcellino about joining this important governing body.
• Know and effectively articulate the mission, purpose, goals, policies, and programs of the Friends of Sausal Creek.
• Attend board meetings 12 times per year and committee meetings periodically.
• Attend and take lead on pieces of our big workdays (twice a year, September and April) and other group events periodically.
• Participate in at least one board committee.
• Commit time, thought, and effort to the Friends of Sausal Creek.
• Participate in establishing organizational policies.
• Accept responsibility for the Friends of Sausal Creek’s financial accountability.
• Make an annual financial contribution according to personal means.
• Participate in FOSC’s fundraising activities in a variety of ways.
• Participate in hiring and periodic evaluation of FOSC’s staff, including the Executive Director.
• Support and advise the staff as appropriate.
• Take on an officer’s position from time to time.
• Participate actively in assessing FOSC’s performance and setting its strategic goals and objectives.
• Represent FOSC to the greater Bay Area community.
• Avoid conflicts of interest.
• Maintain confidentiality when appropriate.

• Directors and Officers liability coverage
• Notice and minutes of all Board meetings
• Relevant information to conduct job as a Board member
• Reimbursement for reasonable expenses in conducting and attending to FOSC business
• Updated financial statements and other information as needed and requested
• Respect for and appreciation of your time
