The Art aide will assist teachers and/or artists with disabilities in the studio and facilitate studio processes. We will train. Volunteer does not need to be artistic. Help artists who use assistive devices, work one on one with clients or with a particular teacher to free their attention for teaching. Teacher/Student ratio is one/eight. It is helpful if you have had experience with people with disabilities, but not mandatory. NIAD Art Center serves appr. 35-40 adults with disabilities (often multiple disabilities) each day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. This is a legally protected population and anyone working at NIAD is required to have both a State and a Federal background check, as well as a recent TB test. This opportunity is sponsored by: National Institute of Art and Disabilities (NIAD)
