Docent/Tour Guide at Hermann-Grima/Gallier Historic Houses
Last updated on April 21, 2008

Volunteers are an essential part of our organization! Docents take the general public on guided tours through the museums sharing New Orleans' rich history. Tour topics include information about general 19th-century lifestyle, the history of the families that lived in the homes, slavery, free people of color, architecture, decorative arts, cooking, gardening and more. If you enjoy history or want to learn more about the history of New Orleans, this is your opportunity!

We want volunteers who have a friendly manner, good interpersonal skills, the ability to speak in public or a willingness to learn, and an interest in history, decorative arts, and/or architecture. You must be able to stand and talk for 45 minutes at a time, as well as to climb stairs.
