Operation Bread Basket is a twice-yearly food drive for Harvesters - The Community Food network, and is sponsored by Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) and eight area SunFresh grocery stores. Volunteers will "adopt" one of the grocery stores for a shift, day, or weekend and provide volunteers for two-hour shifts between the hours of 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Grocery bags with flyers are provided to pass out to customers. Volunteers will ask customers entering the stores if they would like to purchase and donate an extra canned good or two for Harvesters to help feed the hungry in Kansas City.
