About Volunteer Center of Iron County The Volunteer Center of Iron County mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community needs. To achieve this vision, the Volunteer Center offers programs and services that:
The Volunteer Center of Iron County offers three Senior Corps programs to include the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), and Senior Volunteer Program (SCP). Through these programs, Senior Corps volunteers prove that seniors are a tremendous resource to society. RSVP invites adults age 55 and better to use their skills and experience to tackle some of the biggest problems in their communities. They help police protect their neighbors, mentor and tutor young people, volunteer countless hours at local Hospitals and clinics, and give their time to many other activities. RSVP challenges older Americans to answer the call of their neighbors and help solve serious problems in their communities. SCP invites healthy older adults (age 60 or better) to help other adults continue to live independently, and provide friendly visits to older adults in assisted living facilities. They help with grocery shopping, answering mail, driving to doctors' appointments, or other daily tasks that are essential to maintaining independence. Senior Companions also provide short periods of relief to primary caregivers such as family members. FGP (also for 60 or better) are the individuals that children in need depend on for love, wisdom and support. They help children with special needs at schools, hospitals, drug treatment centers, and other locations. Whether tutoring younger students, nurturing sick children, or couseling older kids, Foster Grandparents event the odds for young people who are struggling. Foster Grandparents change children's lives by giving them the attention they need.
