Recognizing that arts are essential to a healthy community, the Cedar City Arts Council promotes an appreciation for, the development of, and the participation in the cultural arts through all segments of our community.
Description:
The Cedar City Arts Council is an organization devoted to 1) facilitating development of Cedar City as a principal center for the arts in Southern Utah, 2) enhancing the community's vitality and economic development through the promotion of the arts and through collaboration with the artistic community, 3) promoting artistic education, entertainment, and enrichment for residents and visitors alike, 4) honoring and encouraging the creative spirit, especially through the ongoing recognition and celebration of the city's cultural heritage, and 5) facilitating communication between artists and the community.
History:
The Cedar City Arts Council was re-organized on April 16, 2002. It has established a board that is empowered to organize sub-committees to accomplish projects and events. The board consists of representatives from visual, performing, and literary arts, the business community, education and city government. This board represents the entire membership, holding membership events focusing on the arts, the artists and art organizations.
