The Mission of the Santana Center: To promote, encourage and foster healthy, knowledgeable interactions between horses and humans through education, training and outreach activities.
Description:
Major Goals of the Santana Center:
- Provide a local center for education and outreach on equine-related topics.
- Provide a short-term facility for equine rehabilitation.
- Provide a local center for information on equine assisted psycho-therapy, leadership and personal development.
- Establish a community of knowledgeable, concerned and involved horse lovers.
History:
November 2004: Submitted paperwork for non-profit 2005: Started with one horse adoption and classes for the general public 2006: Started collaboration with Horses Forever (based in Colorado) to train and rehab rescue horses. Continued with classes 2007: Received first two grants. The first was from the ASPCA for equipment for classes and the second was from the RI Foundation for the RI Horse Survey. 2008: Horse Survey and horse training and adoption
