Description:
The Genesis Center is a multi-service organization offering a full range of services to immigrants and refugees from twenty-six countries. Current programs include:
- English for speakers of other languages
- Pre-Employment training, internships an job placement
- Computer literacy
- Job training in culinary arts, office skills/
clerical, certified nursing assistants and teacher assistants
- Math, consumer education and basic survival skills
- Intergenerational literacy and parenting skills
- Early Childhood Education Center for children ages
six weeks to five years of age
- Worksite literacy at eight business sites throughout
the state
- Health education, information and referrals services
- Intensive case management and referrals
History:
The Genesis Center is a community-based school and support center founded in 1982 for immigrants and refugees. The Center has now served over 5,000 students from over 26 countries. Genesis is a support center for students and their families helping to ease their transition to American life.
