The RI Blood Center's mission is to provide a safe and adequate blood supply for the state of Rhode Island and neighboring communities.
Description:
The RI Blood Center is a private, not for profit organization that collects, processes and distributes all of the blood products used in Rhode Island. The sick and injured in our community need 280 pints of blood a day. Due to the time and nature of donation and testing we must also work hard to have reserves on hand in case of emergencies. Volunteers are an integral part of the work that we do and when you assist the blood center you are truly helping save lives.
History:
The Rhode Island Blood Center was founded by area hospitals in 1979 as a non-profit community based blood center. Our goal is to ensure that all Rhode Islanders have immediate access to a safe and plentiful blood supply.
