To end participation in, and societal tolerance of, domestic violence. We foster an environment of safety and learning in a family oriented center. We reflect the growing diversity of American families in the composition of our board, staff and volunteers.
Description:
Provides services for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, through safe shelter, individual and group counseling, 24 hour crisis hotline, court advocacy, in-school programming and professional training and education. Please contact the agency for information about our many volunteer and intern opportunities
History:
Started in 1977 as a Community Improvement Project with the intent of providing immediate temporary shelter of women who were victims of domestic violence. In July, 1979, EBC began operation of its 24 hour, 7 day a week crises hotline. In 1981, EBC opened its doors as a short term, safe shelter. The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center opened in the winter of 2004 as a community center.
