The mission of the Rhode Island Holocaust Memorial Museum is to honor the memory of the victims and to pay tribute to the survivors, rescuers, liberators, and witnesses of the Holocaust. The Museum teaches the painful lessons learned from racism, bigotry, and genocide to the next generation in order to promote tolerance, mutual understanding, and respect.
Description:
The Rhode Island Holocaust Museum is an educational institution that bears witness to the Holocaust, educates the public about it, and memorializes those who perished. It strives to reduce prejudice against all minorities by teaching the current generation about the experience of the Jews during the Holocaust. Its primary focus is outreach to schools, but it also provides programming for the entire community. Among its educational offerings are lectures by Holocaust Survivors, a library, an audio-visual materials collection, teacher workshops, and personalized assistance to teachers. Events include lectures, art exhibits, films, and observances.
