“To inspire and enable all young people especially those who need us most, To realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens”

Description:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick is a private, non-profit organization working to help youth of all backgrounds, with special concern for those who need us most, develop the qualities needed to become independent, responsible citizens and leaders.

A Boys & Girls Club provides:
• A safe place to learn and grow.
• Ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals.
• Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences.
• Hope and opportunity

Our core services include activities such as educational games, tutoring, drug prevention, sports and physical education, recreation, arts & crafts, and environmental awareness, etc. All for a yearly membership of $15.

We also offer affordable fee-based programs such as Before School Care, after-kindergarten and after-school Child Care, Summer Camp and a Youthoop Basketball League.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick have a substantial presence in the Warwick community. We have two Club facilities open every day after school (Norwood Club & Oakland Beach Club). We are open for full day childcare during school vacation weeks and operate a summer day camp.

History:
The Boys Clubs of Warwick was incorporated in 1963 with the first branch opening in 1968 in the Kentish Artillery Building in the Apponaug neighborhood of Warwick. This Club was made possible as a result of a grant from the Rotary Club of Warwick.
A success from the day it opened, the Club was soon bursting at the seams with children. Based on its initial success, a second club was opened in 1973 in the former Norwood Volunteer Fire Station, soon followed by the Oakland Beach Branch. In 1983, recognizing its responsibility to the community’s girls, the club changed its name to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick and began serving girls.
After a successful capital campaign, a new 17,000 square foot Norwood Branch was constructed in 2002, housing a state of the art day care center, teen center, community police station and more. Renovations and an addition to the Oakland Beach Branch commenced in 2004 which now includes a Full-size gymnasium, state of the art Technology center, full service kitchen and a community police station. At present, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick has a membership of over 1,700 boys & girls.
