The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership and the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description:
The Arthritis Foundation was formed nationally in 1948 and was chartered in RI in 1950. The Arthritis Foundation achieves its mission by:
- Funding research
- Conducting education programs for health professionals.
- Providing educational programs for people with arthritis including seminars and self-help programs.
- Providing exercise classes with co-sponsoring community agencies, including warm water, land, and walking programs.
- Sponsoring support groups.
- Informing the public about prevention, the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
- Advocating for the interests of people affected by arthritis.
- Seeking funds to support programs and services.
The foundation relies on collaboration with over 70 agencies in RI in order to carry out its mission.
