The mission of Fusionworks is to provide an understanding of modern dance through an educational framework of concerts, public performances and educational programming.
Description:
Through direct experience, the Company's audiences are introduced to the process and human elements which produce the inspirational beauty that can be achieved by a high quality, professional dance company. The appeal to the audience's intellect, their sense of humor and fun and to a wide range of human emotions is a result of the inherent artistic collaboration which directly engages them.
History:
Founded in 1987 by Artistic Director, Deb Meunier, Fusionworks is a modern dance repertory company based both in Lincoln and East Greenwich.
The company members are known for their gutsy, striking and provocative interpretations of works by an impressive line-up of contemporary choreographers.
The company has been presented throughout the Northeast including Jacob's Pillow, The 92nd Street Y in New York and ECA in New Haven, and at numerous colleges including the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Brown University, Duke University, and Bridgewater State College.
In 2000, Fusionworks II joined the Fusionworks family to groom promising dancers for Fusionworks as well as to broaden the base of Rhode Island dancers trained in the various modern techniques.
In its desire to bring modern dance to the children and families of many communities, Fusionworks has developed an exciting array of educational and community dance programs which blend professional performances with participatory workshops and classes for all ages of dancers and non-dancers alike. These programs have been met with tremendous enthusiasm and success.
The company works year round in theaters, universities, public and private schools, museums and libraries, YMCA's and community centers.
